Join Us for Summer Quest 2021

Summer Quest is a free program for K-12 students where you sign up online and log your reading and complete activities through delcolibraries.beanstack.org and are eligible to win prizes throughout the summer.

 

Beanstack lets you record the books you read all summer and has lots of badges you can earn by doing fun activities.

WIN PRIZES

Join and participate on Beanstack! Any week that you are active by logging your reading or earning badges you can come to the library and collect a prize. You can follow us on facebook and instagram to compete in our building challenges, and join one of our monthly club kits.

Ready Readers Club

Ready Readers Club is a monthly club kit full of crafts, books, songs, and other activities for our littlest raiders. Grow early literacy skills and promote school readiness by joining our adventures in each of the five "Every Child Ready To Read" areas; Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, and Playing. Each month focuses on different themes with tools and skills designed to go hand in hand with our online weekly storytime, Wee Reads. 

You can follow along and show your great work at storytime every week or just work from home. If you would like to register for Wee Reads call the library during our open hours at 610-623-0239.

Join our easy reader book club, Chapter Champs, and read great early chapter books with your peers. Each month you can sign up to receive a free copy of the book club book and fun related crafts, activities and experiments. All summer read and learn with us!

Summer Storytellers

Become one of our Summer Storytellers to join our middle grade novel book club. Each month you can sign up to receive a free copy of the book club book and fun related activities and experiments. Be inspired by stories and create some of your own! Whether poems, videos, short stories, comics, or illustrations we want you to create, experiment, and show us where your inspiration takes you!

June we will be reading Magic Misfits and participants will get materials to perform their own magic tricks.

SUMMER VIRTUAL EVENTS

In addition to all of the great activities you can do through Beanstack there are several fun planned summer virtual events and performances. Please register for these events online and in the event they are done through Zoom you will receive the link to the event the day before!

Science in the Summer

Families in the greater Philadelphia area may enter an online lottery from  May 3 – May 21, 2021, to receive a free kit of science materials from their local library. Kits will include materials for the Environmental and Electrical Engineer activities. Additional online content is available for continued exploration with the Structural and Biomedical Engineer activities.

 

Please note that if you are not selected in the lottery, all activity guides, materials lists, and videos will be shared online, so you can still assemble your own materials and have fun being engineers at home!

David and Digger Presents: How Coyote Saved the Day

 

Friday June 18th at 10:30 am

Join Digger and David on a wonderful puppet story and magic adventure as they present How Coyote Saved the Day. The Sun has been stolen and all the world is cold and in the dark! 

Coyote and his intrepid animal friends set out to bring the Sun with its warmth and light back to the earth.

A exciting story inspired by several major winter myths from around the world.

The Children of the Lansdowne Library Go Wild in the Jungle!

 

Saturday July 10th at 4:00pm

Our favorite storyteller, Mr. Don of Classroom Adventure Stories, will perform his highly-interactive adventure story --"The Children of the Lansdowne Library Go Wild in the Jungle!" When our library turns into a jungle, Mr. Don will lead us on an exciting expedition!

We'll meet some friendly animals and experience many fun adventures along the way! We'll also learn an important anti-bullying lesson. This program will be held virtually! Please register your children ahead of time, so that Mr. Don can add your child's name to the story, as one of the main characters!
